End of Life Doula

The Process

Please see below to best understand some of the services and role of an end of life doula and how she can help the dying and their families through life transitions right from a diagnosis or prognosis to end of life.

  • Meeting  with clients and their family and going over advanced care directives, helping them understand their  options for the future, facilitating conversation between the client and his or her family, and helping them get their wishes understood and  documented

  • Providing information to families on what a “good death” can mean and educating them on what  they can do now—while they are well and active—to ensure they die with dignity and peace

  • Holding  the hand of their client, and listening to their fears, life  stories, and wishes for their end of life and possibly creating a legacy project - something to  help them process and admire the amazing life they have lived, and  create a physical remembrance of that life

  • Conducting  a “living funeral” for patients at their hospice bedside or helping plan the event and, on the day of, helping direct the ceremony

  • Standing  vigil by the hospital bedside of the dying client and creating sacred space  for the dying and their loved ones by providing ritual, prayer or any acts of sacredness the family chooses

End Of Life Celebrations

The Process

End-of-life celebrations can be initiated in person or virtually. In either case, the minister meets with family members to curate a ceremony that reflects the person who has passed. Careful consideration is taken to best honor the life and journey of the one who has passed while creating space for the family to perform the rituals and traditions to mark this sacred passage.

Includes the ceremony interview and writing as well as performing of the ceremony, including graveside location if required: $150-$300

Pre-ceremony prayer circles are available upon request.

(Price varies depending on location, length of service and travel)
